In February 2020, the world of oncology lost one of its most brilliant medical doctors and breast cancer researchers. Professor Aron Goldhirsch, the “father” of BIG and a founder of the International Breast Cancer Study Group (IBCSG), passed away at the age of 73 on 26 February 2020. He was a truly remarkable person known for his very high sense of ethics, humanity and openness.

To honour Aron and his legacy, BIG compiled testimonies from friends and colleagues he worked closely with. These testimonies are part of a publication entirely dedicated to him, his contribution to academic research and education, and to advances in breast cancer research (particularly endocrine therapies) over several decades.

We hope you will appreciate this tribute. Enjoy the reading.
