The ABC (Advanced Breast Cancer) Global Alliance is holding ABC6 – the Advanced Breast Cancer Sixth International Consensus Conference virtually from 4-6 November 2021. Held every two years, this major international conference is also a forum for sharing the best clinical practices and the latest scientific updates in the field. ABC Alliance’s goal, throughout these conferences, is to improve outcomes for all patients with advanced breast cancer.
The ABC Global Alliance was established in 2016 as an initiative of the European School of Oncology (ESO) and is now registered as a non-profit association in Portugal. It represents a multi-stakeholder platform for all those interested in collaborating in common projects relating to advanced breast cancer (ABC) around the world. For further information about ABC Alliance’s International Consensus Conference, please watch the video of Dr Fatima Cardoso below, President of the ABC Global Alliance and Chair of the ABC International Consensus Conference and Guidelines.
The great majority of breast cancer deaths are caused by metastatic (or advanced) breast cancer, which is more difficult to treat and remains incurable. In October, in the context of the international breast cancer awareness month, BIG wishes to draw more attention to metastatic breast cancer and the importance of international research. On 13 October, which is Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day, BIG and EORTC (the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer) invite you to the free webinar “I have Metastatic Breast Cancer: what is my future?”.
Our aim is to reach patients, their families and loved ones, and anyone who is interested in knowing more about metastatic breast cancer. Our speakers are breast cancer experts from the EORTC and BIG –Dr Fatima Cardoso (Portugal), Dr Frederieke van Duijnhoven (The Netherlands) & Dr Philippe Aftimos (Belgium) –, as well as Eva Schumacher-Wulf (Germany), Editor-in-Chief at breast cancer magazine Mamma Mia!, who will tell her journey and give the patient perspective on this topic.
