EU Parliament adopts Written Declaration on the Fight against Breast Cancer in Europe

Intro text:

Good news for the fight against breast cancer. Last Wednesday 22 July the EU Parliament adopted a new Declaration on the Fight against Breast Cancer. The document, which was co-authored by ten MEPs and backed by Europa Donna, calls for the implementation of equal measures in all countries across Europe to fight breast cancer.

This Written Declaration represents an additional step forward in the fight against the disease at the European level. Indeed, the EU authorities had already adopted/released its Resolutions on breast cancer in 2003 and 2006, as well as the European Guidelines for Quality Assurance in breast cancer screening and diagnosis. The new Written Declaration reminds the MEPs that those guidelines still need to be implemented equally at the national level in all EU Member States. It also emphasizes the specific needs of patients affected by metastatic breast cancer.
