BIG Research in Focus newsletter cover, researcher, Fighting breast cancer around the globe: South Asia - India and Pakistan

The latest issue of BIG Research in Focus is now available!

In continuation of the BIG Research in Focus series centred on BIG representatives from different regions around the world, this October issue concentrates on the breast cancer research situation in South Asia, specifically India and Pakistan.

With at least 200,000 women diagnosed with breast cancer each year in South Asia and nearly 100,000 dying from the disease, healthcare providers face a formidable challenge. In this issue’s featured article, breast cancer experts from India and Pakistan address the challenges faced in creating awareness and treating the disease, as well as conducting research that addresses the specific needs of women in this region.

This past June, the final expansion of the Executive Board (EB) was completed following a governance review that was initiated in 2016. This board is composed of sixteen breast cancer experts active in multiple disciplines from various corners of the globe, reflecting the diversity in BIG’s broad network. Through a series of one-on-one interviews, we are pleased to introduce to you the newest members of the EB, as well as three re-elected members.

Finally, and thanks to the precious contributions of the 59 collaborative member groups constituting the network, this issue will give you a peek at some of their activities, including both their own trials and those run under the BIG umbrella.

We hope you will enjoy the reading!
