Digital Communications Coordinator

Function: Provides support to the philanthropy and communications teams by assisting with a broad variety of communications-related tasks.

Works closely with the Communications Managers and other team members to execute communications related to various activities such as, but not limited to

  • BIG against breast cancer’s philanthropic events (virtual and in-person) and partnerships.
  • BIG’s scientific teams active in network, building relationships with BIG member groups, and communicating key messages to the scientific community at large.

Primary Responsibilities:

Website Management:

  • Oversees and ensures the day-to-day maintenance of BIG’s website, and that the content is up-to-date, engaging, and aligned with the overall brand strategy.
  • Collaborates with the Digital Communications Manager to implement website enhancements and ensure a seamless user interface.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO):

  • Conducts keyword research and analysis to optimise website content for search engines.
  • Implements on-page SEO techniques, including meta tags, headings, and internal linking.
  • Stays updated with SEO trends, algorithm changes, and best practices to continuously improve website rankings and organic traffic.

Search Engine Advertising (SEA):

  • Plans, executes, and monitors search engine advertising campaigns, such as Google Ads, to drive targeted traffic and achieve conversion goals.
  • Optimises ad copy, keywords, and bids to maximize ROI and ad performance.
  • Provides regular reports on campaign performance, insights, and recommendations for improvement.

Analytics and Reporting:

  • Tracks and analyses digital communication metrics, including website traffic, conversion rates, SEO rankings, and social media engagement.
  • Generates regular performance reports, identify trends, and propose actionable recommendations to optimise digital marketing strategies.

Social Media:

  • Develops and manages paid social media campaigns across various platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter(X), LinkedIn, Instagram) to increase brand visibility, engagement, and lead generation.
  • Utilises audience segmentation and targeting to ensure ads reach the right audience.
  • Monitors social media ad performance and adjusts strategies based on data-driven insights.
  • Assists in the use and management of social media platforms by drafting, scheduling, posting content, developing ways to improve BIG’s/BIG against breast cancer’s public visibility and increase number of followers / supporters.
  • Conducts A/B testing and utilises other testing metrics to enhance campaign performance.
  • Collaborates with influencers to amplify brand reach and engagement.

Content Marketing:

  • Collaborates with the communications managers, and other departments, to develop compelling digital content that aligns with digital campaigns and supports SEO efforts.
  • Coordinates the promotion of content through social media and other digital channels.
  • Creates content (basic knowledge in graphic design, video editing etc.)
  • Watches trends in new communications tools and is eager to learn and use them (tech-savvy) whenever needed to keep communications dynamic and relevant.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience and/or internships in website management, SEO, SEA, and social media advertising.
  • Is “tech-savvy” and at ease with digital communications tools in general
  • Experience with Search Engine Optimisation, Search Engine Advertising and Social Media Advertising is a must.
  • Familiarity with content management systems, experience with WordPress is a plus.
  • Comfortable with a wide variety of technical and creative software packages, and able to learn new ones quickly (e.g., Google Ads, Matomo Analytics, Koalect, Adobe Creative Cloud, Hootsuite, Canva, etc.)
  • Demonstrates excellent soft skills. These include strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, capacity to adapt and the ability to work effectively within a diverse team.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, French and/or Dutch. Other languages are a plus.
  • Adheres to the highest ethical standards.
