On 26 April 2023, BIG signed an agreement with the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA), for the allocation of an EU4Health operating grant. The EU4Health programme provides unparalleled EU financial support in the health arena.

By awarding this operating grant, HaDEA recognises the invaluable contributions made by BIG in advancing breast cancer research and treatment in the European Union (EU) and around the world. The grant will be used to co-finance a substantial portion of BIG HQ’s activities throughout 2023, fuelling the operational work key to making international breast cancer research and collaboration possible.

Usually activities such as awareness campaigns, capacity building, communications and dissemination, expert collaboration support, and much more are underfunded. With this operating grant, BIG will be able to continue its vital work in improving outcomes for breast cancer patients around the world. The grant will also contribute to BIG’s long-term sustainability as a leader in independent academic breast cancer research in Europe and beyond, helping the EU implement its broader policy objectives and addressing many of the region’s health challenges.

Since BIG’s activities are instrumental in shaping the future of breast cancer treatment and care, the EU4Health operating grant from HaDEA will undoubtedly strengthen its impact. Through collaborative efforts and innovative research, BIG remains committed to achieving its hope of a world where no one suffers from breast cancer.
